Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS is said to be one of the diseases which cause could not be established. Despite this fact, however, symptoms may help you determine if you are a victim. As a treatment, colon cleansing could be a good start.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a group of symptoms that you are experiencing due to some types of health problems. It is not considered as a disease, only a kind of practical disorder that happens when your bowel is not eliminated properly. This type of disorder can affect your colon and your large intestines in your digestive system.
Causes
The real cause of IBS is not yet established up to the present. The disease is associated to the sensitivity of the nerves and muscles that are attached to your bowel. The contraction of your muscles after you eat can cause stomach cramps and loose bowel movement during or just after you have eaten. If your nerves respond whenever your large intestines extends, stomach cramp and pain occur.
IBS is a very painful disorder but your consolation is that it does not destroy your colon and some parts of your digestive tract. It also cannot direct to other health trouble.
Symptoms
The major signs of IBS that you can experience are stomach aches or discomfort, but it is usually reduced after you have proper bowel elimination. The combination of both frequent loose bowel movement and constipation are also a symptom of IBS. The other signs of IBS are:
• White mucus in the stool during elimination;
• Bloated stomach due to improper bowel movement
• In women, it is most commonly experienced during their monthly period.
Diagnosis
Rome Criteria is one of the diagnoses used in order to determine the exact symptoms of your IBS. It is considered to be a more precise diagnosis for this bowel disorder. Medical examination will also be performed to make sure that the symptoms you are experiencing are not due to other health problems.
Aside from the physical examination and blood tests that will be performed to diagnose IBS, there are other methods used for further detection such as:
• Lower gastrointestinal series. This is a type of test that is done through the X-ray machine in order to identify the problems that are affecting your large intestines. This type of X-ray is more commonly known as barium enema.
• Colonoscopy. This test involves a long but thin tube that is inserted into your anus up to your colon. The tube contains a light and tiny lens at its end in order to see what is inside your system.
Treatment
Irritated bowel syndrome has no known cure yet. The only thing that your doctor can recommend is some practical things that you can do to alleviate the symptoms. The treatments that may be recommended are change in your diet and lifestyle. Some medicines that can relieve some of the symptoms may also be prescribed especially those for stomach ache. Physical activities that may help in relieving your stress will be helpful for IBS as well.
You should always realize that any disorder that you are experiencing in relation to the digestive system could be lessened through colon cleansing. You have to make it a habit to clean your internal system from any blockage. Only when you do such things could you be freed from other body disorders.
