Ulcer is the result of the irritation and aches due to ulcerative colitis. This condition occurs at the walls of your colon and rectum. They are responsible in destroying the cells of your colon due to the soreness and swelling on its walls that may result to bleeding and the production of pus. How could it be associated with colon cleansing?
Ulcerative proctitis is the result of swelling that happens at the bottom part of your colon, while pancolitis occurs if the whole of your colon is affected by the inflammation. If the inflammation affects the left side of your colon it is called Ulcerative colitis. This is oftentimes referred to as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
It is the most common name of a certain condition that is due to the swelling inside your small intestine and colon. This type of disease is not easy to detect because its signs are like those that you experience when you are affected by Crohn’s disease which is another kind of inflammatory bowel disease. The difference is that the latter can cause swelling and redness at the innermost part of your intestinal walls.
Ulcerative colitis can affect people of all ages, but it usually begins and affects people from ages 15 to 30. Both men and women can be affected by this type of bowel disease. It could also be hereditary.
Symptoms
The usual symptoms you will experience if you are affected by ulcerative colitis are stomach ache and frequent bowel movement that contain blood. You may also feel over exhaustion, failure to eat properly, anemia, skin lacerations, reduction of body fluids and nutrients, rectal bleeding and weight loss. This type of inflammatory bowel disease can also be a source for some other body ailments like arthritis, eye inflammation, some type of liver disease, and osteoporosis.
Causes
The real causes of ulcerative colitis are not known yet, but some experts connect this bowel disease to the irregular function of your immune system. Its cause may also be connected to your intolerance to some foods and products. It is believed that this sensitivity can activate the symptoms of ulcerative colitis. The stress that you are experiencing when you are affected by the disease is also a contributory factor for its cause.
Diagnosis
The first stage of diagnosing ulcerative colitis is done through physical examination and medical history. After the first steps, you may be required to undergo some blood tests to determine if you have some sort of blood problem like anemia. This blood test will also show that bleeding is happening inside your colon or rectum. If they will discover that your white blood cells are also affected, it means that there is something wrong in some parts of your organs.
A stool test will also be requested to determine if your white blood cells are really affected. The blood stool test may show that there is really a bleeding and infection inside your colon or rectum. This could be due to bacteria, viruses and parasites.
Ulcerative colitis could be prevented with a cleansed colon. You could always incorporate a diet rich in fiber in your colon cleansing program. You do not have to suffer the consequences alter as long as you solve the problem at once.
